Orwell’s dystopia hits harder every time you re-read it. The concept of doublethink — holding two contradictory beliefs and accepting both — is not just a political warning but a cognitive one. It resonates with my research on what models “know” versus what they “express”: the gap between internal representation and output behaviour is, in a sense, the machine learning version of doublethink.
